I know how time works, but I still cannot believe my girl is an actual Freshman in high school. The busy school days, after-school practices, and weekend football games…it’s bringing back so many memories.
I do worry that this transition might overwhelm her. When her transition to middle school did not go as planned, we ended up enrolling her in an online school program. It saved us! The following year, Maile felt more equipped to take on the middle school environment and she’s been managing wonderfully ever since.
One of the exhausting things about being a student-athlete is that you leave for school first thing in the morning and literally sometimes do not get home until well into the evening. I have been packing extra meals, fruit, and snacks in her bag so that she always has a quick bite to eat. I have a hard time keeping up with her and a recent Frito-Lay Variety Packs poll revealed that I’m not alone! Over half (55%) of parents feel stressed about keeping up with their kid(s) extracurricular activities during the school year! Frito-Lay Variety Packs makes the meal packing portion of our days a whole lot easier! Take a look at this video I uploaded to Instagram of the snacks packing themselves:

I am equal parts a nervous wreck and totally thrilled for Maile to take on this next chapter. High school can be fun and exciting and also dramatic. There is no arguing that this phase of life is one of the most impactful. How often do we reference our own high school experiences as adults? Or is that just me??
Go get’em Maile! I can’t wait to watch some volleyball!
