1. Happy Thanksgiving! How will you be spending your holiday?
Our last normal Thanksgiving was 3 years ago.
Last year I made a steak feast for my family and we ate dessert in my sister’s garage with cousins.
The year before that I don’t think I saw any of my siblings, instead, I made a Thanksgiving dinner for my kids and whatever boyfriends were hanging around at that time.
So this year it feels especially nice to head to my mom’s house with my trusty mac and cheese dish. There will be siblings and cousins and all of the holiday cheer I look forward to.
My mom will burn biscuits and slide her cranberry loaf onto a plate even though nobody touches it. Kids will run up and down the stairs. We’ll draw names for a Christmas exchange. My oldest sister will bring her tray of homemade cinnamon rolls. Kainoa will complain about having to go. My brother will yell at my sister about her existence and there will be passionate discussions about politics, religion and money before everyone takes turns sharing something they are thankful for this year.
AS IT SHOULD BE!
Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours! That’s an old Family Circus cartoon (no PJ and daddy Bil isn’t wearing glasses)!
