I got to celebrate my 31 and a halfth birthday this weekend with some of my favorite people:
It feels like just yesterday we were celebrating my 30…and a halfth birthday.
I also got to help my photographer friend Alecia do her job by rocking 8 day old twin boys to sleep so that she could take stunning pictures of them:
Clearly Laina is following in Alecia’s footsteps because she spent the weekend taking pictures as well:
I found a drawing in Maile’s journal and about died laughing at her interpretation of her father:
Spot on dontcha’ think?:
And this is what Kainoa learned to do:
Productive no? It’s almost like you were here with me the whole time.
ALL CAUGHT UP!
Rachel {at} Mommy Needs a Vacation says
I think it is hysterical that you celebrated your 21st bday again. And those pictures in Maile’s journal…priceless!
Miss Welcome says
Oh, can your son come over and make coffee in my house?
Jennie says
Mine is on Christmas Eve. Friends used to “feel sorry for me” but I didn’t have to go to school on my Birthday :)
Lucky for me, mom listened to a nurse in the hospital whose birthday was Christmas Day. She made sure that Birthday presents weren’t in Christmas paper, I got to open presents first, no this is for “both” from the family. My parties had gingerbread house decorating (which the parents loved!) to lure in party guests between family celebrations, and bounce houses (btw we got to keep ’til the 26th instead of just one day). I also get all the special reminders that my day is coming, like people decorating their houses with lights for me… not for me? Everyone has their own way to celebrate and yours looks like it was perfect. Happy Half Birthday Mama Kat!
No Excuses says
Happy Birthday! Your kids are adorable (and so are those babies!).
Like any birthday, stretch it out as long as you can!
Have a great week!
Coco says
Really cute. Love her photos. Love the drawing. Kids are so much fun except when they aren’t : /
Carla says
I love the pic’s and the art work ain’t too shabby. LOL…wonderful.
Jen says
I need to get Quinn to make me coffee in the morning. That is fabulous. Please write and tell me how you did that.
Jen says
Oh and just so we are clear, you are a half of a year older than me. ;)
Donda says
Happy Birthday!!! My daughter just came out of kindergarten and they always made picture stories on that lined paper. Her stories were always about food…the best one was, “I love O’Charley’s”. At least I don’t have to battle at dinner time”!
Stephanie says
I never thought to teach my boys to make coffee! I know what they will be learning this weekend – yeah me!
Audreya says
I love it! My actual 31st bday was Saturday the 26th… however, I’ve always joked that Christmas is my half-birthday celebration. Although this year, as it was 4,000 degrees outside and everyone was miserable for my cook-out, I suggested we reschedule my birthday to October. Of course, I would still expect a little recognition on my official and half birthdays. :-) Because, as you said, some people are just that special! I like to think I’m one of them too. And I mostly just like cake.
Happy Half-birthday! Looks like you had a blast!!
Natalie says
Your daughter’s drawings are great! I totally see the resemblance between her drawing and the real thing!
Happy kinda-sorta-but-not-really birthday!
Los says
I remember my first cup of coffee mom gave me right before my first day of Kindergarten ….
Alexandra says
Hap Bir! (that’s for your 1/2 birthday, I’ll give you the rest in 6 mos)
You trained your son to get coffee?
Briliant, woman, just brilliant.
Nolie says
Happy 1/2 birthday. I am a December baby as well. Though my mom never let Christmas mess with my birthday.
Emily says
Audrey’s b-day is Jan. 3rd, may have to institute a ‘half-birthday’ celebration for her- great idea! Any reason to have cake, right?
Wendy says
Happy 1/2! And your outfit is super cute!
alexis says
i love that you put kainoa to work. you’re such a good mom, teaching your son a good work ethic.
Peg says
So, do you celebrate your birthday AND your half birthday? Smart girl… twice the fun!
Amber says
Happy birthday to another June baby! Mine was last weekend. Turned 31 as well :-)
KLZ says
Children really should learn to make drinks at a young age. Even coffee. Awesome.
Shelley says
We actually just went to an 18 month old’s birthday party this weekend. She was born on Christmas Day so they decided to celebrate in June as well.
Kathy says
Happy Birthday and I love the drawing :)
Vic says
Happy Belated…..fun times(:
Tricia says
Okay, Kainoa making you coffee is brilliance in parenting, the likes of which has never been seen before. If only I could get Henry to make my tea…and cook dinner…and do laundry…
Happy Half Birthday, my lovely!
liz says
You’ve inspired me. I think the next thing we teach Kate is to make us coffee! I think being a photog’s assistant would be a pretty cool gig.
Lourie says
I love the journal pics!
Jade says
Happy halfth (spelling?) love the picture of dad!
kisatrtle says
the pics are awesome. Happy 30 1/2! The picture of your hubby reminds me of one my now nine year old made in kindergarten. Everyone in our family always had on clothing except my husband who only wore a bowtie. This was a little awkward at the conference. LOL I should write a post about this.
Jenners says
Happy 30ish Birthday!
pam-tastic says
I too have celebrated my half-birthdays…my “regular” birthday is in January. In January it’s cold, everyone is broke from buying Christmas presents and everyone else has started their New Year’s resolution to lose weight ergo…they don’t want to “party”. So…July…so much better!!!

My kids learned to make our coffee this year and it is freaking wonderful! They haven’t been doing it this summer but when they do it is such a treat. Coffee in bed!
Holly says
I think we should do our Dec boy a half birthday. His friends are always so busy around Christmas time. We have a pool and he gets bummed that his brother can have a pool party… Hmmm… GREAT IDEA!! =D
You have a true aspiring artist on your hands. LOVE the rendition of DAD!!!
Cari says
I gave you an award!

Tracy @ Sweet Harper says
You have such a beautiful family! I have been stalking for a while, but haven’t actually commented until now…so hi! Oh, and what’s the secret to getting my kid to make the perfect cup?
Tracy P. says
I’m totally on board with the kids making me coffee. Tomorrow it’s coffee in bed. I’ll get up after the two and a halfth cup. Not a minute before.
Jessica says
I love your very juicy lips, too. Injections? How’d you get THOSE babies?!
Mama Kat says
I know! I love her version of me…she must perceive me as being very girly and beautiful and…lippy.
Via says
I’ve been talking about doing this for years. My birthday is nearly on christmas and it kind of kills the rest of the year for me and breaks the wallets and creative gift-giving for all my loved ones. Can I come celebrate with you? ;)
