Every month my friend Marci and I spend a day “exploring Washington”. It’s become our way of getting out to see more, but without going too far because we both have responsibilities (and lack of liquid money) that require us to stay close to home.
I love it actually because there is so much right here that I’ve never see even after spending my life living here.
So recently on Instagram I’ve been sharing our November trip to Crystal Mountain, take a look:
(video here)
When is the last time you explored a new place in your own state? Where did you?
Traci says
I went to the Toledo Zoo in July with Hubby. We have a bucket list where we visit a zoo in all the states. I enjoy the zoo while he goecaches.
The Toledo Zoo was the last zoo I needed to visit in Ohio.

Looks like it was a good time regardless. Hey, you got the video out of it…
I took a tram (like a gondola, but bigger) up the Sandia Mountains in New Mexico and ate at the restaurant at the top, and yes, it was expensive. Can you say “tourist trap”?
I also visited Crater Lake, where they don’t have a gondola, but you can drive up. It was 80 degrees at sea level, about fifty degrees colder at the top. Dressed as I was for 80 degrees, I didn’t spend much time there…

OMG, this was wonderful but I got cold and frostbitten just watching!
“I’m in pain, but it was really really pretty” – ha!
I live in Colorado, and it’s never even occurred to me to go to the top of a ski mountain and not ski.
I love that you do these monthly outings, though. What a great idea! I need a Marci.
