This morning as I was getting ready Pat came into the bathroom and asked me if I heard Laina last night. She’s been getting up a lot in the middle of the night lately asking for a drink of water. Since I’m on Kainoa and mini-me duty all night Pat almost always takes care of Laina.
Apparently when he went in to lay her back down around 4 in the morning she informed him she would NOT be going back to sleep and that she would indeed rather watch tv. The little girl that would rather play than watch tv has become OBSESSED with movies lately. She asks to watch them all day (and evidently all night), over and over. Mom thinks it’s a phase. And she’s very whiny about asking. It gets extremely annoying.
“Wanna watch ‘Rella Mommy. Wanna watch ‘Rella. ‘Rella Mommy, ‘Rella. In a minute Mommy?? “Rella in a minute?? Yater Mommy? Watch ‘Rella yater?? Wanna watch ‘Rella Mommy. YES! Mommy YES! WANNA. WATCH. ‘RELLA.”
And repeat.
And repeat again.
One more time.
You can see how this would get a little “played out”.
(sidenote: Pat was laughing at me because I went through that EXACT movie conversation with Laina on Sunday. I told her she could watch it when I finished up in the kitchen and STILL she did not stop. Finally I just yelled at her “Guess what!! I don’t CARE about CINDERLLA, Laina. NEWSFLASH!!” he kept mimicking the rest of the night, “NEWSFLASH KAT!”)
So last night, or early this morning I should say, Pat had a similar interaction with Laina:
“Go to bed.”
“No, Wanna watch Yady an a TRAMP”
“No. Go to bed.”
“WANNA WATCH YADY! YADY. AN. A. TRAMP!!”
When Pat finished telling me the story I chuckled at my annonyingly cute daughter (it’s always funnier when you’re not the one dealing with it) and said something like “Are you kidding me?? Unbelievable.”
Pat shook his head and as he walked away I heard him mumble under his breath in his Hawaiian pidgin “yeah….tramp on ya’ hed”.
