With this new obsession of blog writing came the equally sick obsession of blog reading. While browsing many at night I notice the different spins people put on their blogs. Some people are quite crafty and post pictures of their latest creations. There are a lot of moms like me posting pictures of birthday parties and whining about lack of sleep. One thing I did notice is that there are a lot of blogs that describe what they are eating for dinner and provide recipes for all the world to enjoy. One lady even posted a picture of what she made her daughter for lunch everyday. These blogs got me thinking. Do people REALLY want to know what these people are eating for dinner??
Let’s take that a step further. Do peoplewant to know what goes on in MY kitchen??
And the unequivocal answer to that question is yes. I believe they do. After all, I am a woman. A mother. A wife. My place is in the kitchen. I mean, what ELSE do I do?? Nothing. It’s not like I’m off learnin’ stuff. My husband doesn’t believe in that. My role is to provide a clean home, happy well taken care of children, and a warm meal served at 6pm sharp every evening.
Welcome to my cooking segment:
On the menu?
Orange Chicken and Rice
Meet your chef:
Her name is Maile. In her down time she enjoys dressing up like a princess and laughing at people when they hurt themselves falling down the stairs with a handful of dirty dishes and then ignores the tears falling from their cheeks and asks them to do it again while trying to keep a straight face.
Step One:
Measure Rice and dump into rice cooker.
Step Three:
Pull out a frozen bag of Trader Joe’s Orange Chicken.
Step Four:
Line the chicken on a fancy baking pan.
Step Six:
Mix chicken and sauce.
Step Seven:
Combine rice and chicken and dig in!
And yes, that is the back up pizza dinner because as it turns out I have the world’s pickiest eaters.
It only makes sense that I provide a sneak peak for the world to see the magic in my kitchen that IS my cooking. No thanks necessary. My duty and purpose has been filled for this week.
