Pat spent the week with his family who was visiting from Hawaii last week.
I left my van with him so that he could drive them around in first class style and I used his ragged, cracked windshield, beater car.
I transport Maile to and from school twice a day and need to load up baby Harper each time. Typically it’s not that big of a deal, but during this particular week it was extremely hot.
Since the air conditioning is broken in Pat’s car all three of us were pretty miserable with each drop off and pick up. I rolled down the windows to keep the temperature cool, but the wind made Harper cry. The heat also made her cry.
Every trip was just me holding my breath that we could make it there and back as quickly as possible. I reminded myself of the generous sacrifice I was making daily.
I missed my mini van, but I knew Pat needed it more than I did.
When he got home I was like, “Do you know how generous my sacrifice is? I hate your car, it’s so hot!”
And he was all, “It was pretty hot this week.”
And I was all, “RECORD BREAKING.”
And he was all, “Did you turn on the air conditioning?”
And I was all, “It’s broken, so we were just miserable. Especially poor Harper!”
And he was all, “Kat, I got that fixed weeks ago. Remember the $300 I put into the car that we talked about?”
And I was all, “No.”
And he was all, “Did you even bother turning on the air conditioner to see if it worked?”
And I was all, “No.”
And he was all, “So you drove the car all week in record breaking heat feeling miserable, especially poor Harper, when the air conditioner actually works fine?”
And I was all…
