Dateline used to be one of my favorite shows until I became a mom, now it’s banned. at least they got rid of to catch a predator…that shows gave me the heebie jeebies
That about sums it up! Just heard a great talk on that same thing from Barbara Nicolosi at the SD writer’s conference last weekend. She was saying how the cry of the world for the current generation is, in part, “I’m not safe.” So true. So sad for our kids! How do you tune that out for your family?
That aside, I don’t watch the news, either. Nothing goes on but a bunch of talking heads trying to give news and act like they’re Oprah or Jon Stewart – and it just doesn’t work.
Get a newspaper instead. At least it has crossword puzzles.

I think the difference between now and 50 years ago is mass media. The fact that news can be spread far and wide very quickly, across the whole world. The more we hear, the more we fear. And then there’s the movies and TV and the internet. We don’t watch the news on TV, I cancelled our local paper (which never had any real news anyway) so I rely on USA Today online and Newsweek for major news. Nothing else matters. I’m with the others in Denial, and I do like the view with my head in the sand.

Eeep! I can’t watch the news anymore, I’ll become a hermit for sure!
Stephanie says
Nope no news for me! I’ll live in my own little world, though I do listen to NPR and BBC for world events but not to much on the local side.
Jennifer says
The news is just scary.

I like it here in denial

I’m with Aimee. I like living in denial with no tv. Ahh! The world is a scary, scary place.

Seriously, it’s stuff like that that keeps me away from watching shows like that. Well, that and those shows that makes me yell at the tv…
