Pat came home one day and was all, “there’s a kitten in our garage and you need to get rid of it.” I gasped in glee and followed my kids into the garage. We won her over with food and tender loving care. She made herself right at home in our garage and while I enjoyed patting her on her little head, I felt bad that she wasn’t getting the attention she deserved.
I posted ads on Craigslist to her her find her home. She was too sweet and tame to be feral. When nothing I did resulted in finding her home, I brought her to the Animal Shelter. I knew she would get adopted quickly and they would make sure she has a clean bill of health.
But I missed her. I kept checking the shelter website to see if anyone had claimed her. I hated that she was just sitting in there missing me. Because obviously that’s how animals work. She needed to come home.
When her time in incubation ended and still no one had come forward to claim her, she had her surgery and was moved to the adoption room. The shelter believes she is about 4 months old. Against all of my better judgment, I got her back. I don’t know why I did that. I can’t have another animal…our old kitty is on her last legs. She meows nonstop, she pees in baskets of clean laundry…I can’t do this with another cat. I’m at my wits end.
And yet, here she is. Squirmed her way right into our house. I even spotted her cuddled up with our grumpy old lady cat in the garage. Not that the garage is sufficient for this little diva. When she found us as a “stray” she was more than happy to bounce around in there, but now that she knows she’s adopted, she suddenly wants to dart into the house and then of course she’s too snuggly to put back out.
All that to say, I got another cat. My kids named her Domino.
What was I thinking?

Yay!!! That kitten looks so at home I’m so happy you went back for it! 😻

Oh she belongs to you. Your her human. That’s love right there. xoxo

She’s adorable! So fluffy! Clearly, she chose you.

Remember what Hemingway said: One cat just leads to another. Trust me, we know that. We’ve had to make a hard-and-fast “no more cats” rule here, and we’ve stuck to it.
Still, I don’t think we could have resisted a kitty as adorable as Domino (a very cute name, by the way), and I’m glad you made your house her forever home.

I was like, “she chose us! How can I deny her!?!” For some reason I’ve been able to say no to every other adorable kitty I’ve cared for, but this one I couldn’t turn away.

She was just to cute to resist! I love her little marking on her chin.
Mama Kat says
Me too! I’ve never had a kitty that looks like her!

Cats I can totally resist, but please, in the name of all that is holy, do not show me a bunny in need of a home! My marriage can not take another bunny.
Mama Kat says
Bunnies are the CUTEST!…but they poop pellets everywhere. That’s enough for me to pass on. ;)

Bravo! Domino deserves a home with someone who truly wants her and loves her. Plus it will help your heart when the older cat passes on.

I think you’re right and I think our old cat is slightly entertained by her. :)
