5. Tell us about the last nice thing somebody did for you.
I realized my debit card was not in my wallet on Saturday when I went to use it to buy groceries. I thought maybe it was possible I had moved it into another purse or stuck it in my coat pocket after getting gas Friday, but I forgot to double check my coat pockets and other purse.
On Sunday I tried to order food for my kids and realized again that my debit card was lost. I made a mental note to definitely check for it when I got home.
On Monday I realized I still had not located my debit card. I looked in all the pockets and purses and searched my car, but still no card. I reluctantly pulled up our bank account on my computer and nervously waited to see if our life savings had been drained due to my losing of the debit card and then my procrastination in looking for and/or canceling the lost card.
I was relieved to see that our bank account had not been touched since I used the card for gas on Friday. There is no way I would have left my card at the gas station, but since I could not find the card anywhere else, I decided to pop into the gas station.
The last nice thing somebody did for me was turn my lost debit card into a gas station attendee rather than use it to fill up their gas tank and/or steal all of our money. My card was sitting at a crummy gas station for four days and nobody stole from me!!
That is cause for a celebration! Thank you nice person!!

Wow, this was definitely nice! So glad this person turned your debit card in rather than steal from it.

Kat,
That’s pAwesome! There are still good people left in the word but it could’ve gone sour just as easily. I’m so afraid I’ll do the same thing sometime and am constantly checking where things are. Thanks for hosting and for sharing your story!

I don’t know if it’s this way with debit cards, but a lot of Visa cards allow you to put a lock on the card if you lose it, then take it off if you find it. We’ve had to do that a time or two. That’s a real awful feeling, that someone is out whooping it up with your debit card, although most of the time they need your PIN, don’t they?

Wow, that’s refreshing. Four whole days!

I’m so happy someone found your card and turned it in for you! At my job, I was pleasantly surprised to see this happen more often than I expected. It’s good to know that there are still good people out there!
