I’m going to do a weird thing and answer all of today’s writing prompts!
1. Write a list of your 5 favorite singers growing up…do they still make your top 5 list?
We listened to a lot of music when I was little, but I’m not sure how far back I need to go to determine my top five favorite childhood singers. In no particular order I will go with:
1. Whitney Houston
2. Juice Newton
3. Amy Grant
4. Olivia Newton John
5. Madonna
I’m still a fan of female artists more so than men…although I’d like to replace numbers 2-5 with Taylor Swift, Billie Eilish, Jewel, Wynona, and maybe Adele.
2. Open a blank blog post and “right click paste” in the body of the post…what was pasted? Explain it.

I shared the airbnb listing with someone who was interested in checking it out for a future stay. :) I would totally go back!
3. At what age would you like to restart your life? What would you do differently?
Pat and I actually discussed this once. As difficult as motherhood has been from childbirth and diapers to doctor appointment and bickering…I would definitely restart at baby number one. But only if I could start fresh knowing everything I know now. I would go back and skip sending Maile to that first year of preschool because I know now that she’s a sensitive thing and needs a little extra time with her mama. I would go back and resist the urge to hand my son electronics. I would go back because as hard as they were, they were so cute. Let’s do it again!
4. Write a blog post inspired by the word: pair
The word pair makes me think of kittens because I’ve been thinking about fostering them again and I remember when I DID foster them I always wished I could request that they be adopted in pairs. The kittens are all best friends when they are raised together and it used to make me sad to separate them and make them get used to a new home alone. I still think pairs are the way to go…I mean why wouldn’t you want two??
5. What was the occasion? Write about the last time you stayed in a hotel.
I mentioned last week that we went to Vegas for Maile’s volleyball tournament. We stayed at the Grand MGM and it was beautiful! We actually skipped around to a few different hotels and all of them were like giant malls inside. I uploaded our trip to YouTube and can see our hotel room in all of it’s glory here!:

6. Write about something your child said that made you smile.
My kids always make me laugh, but Harper lately has been the cute little monster that brings a smile to my face. On our way to the library the other day she said, “Kaka? You are AAAAA-mazeeng!” She knows flattery will get her just about anything with me. What a cutie. I don’t know if I mentioned it here (I shared on YouTube awhile back), but Harper has been diagnosed with Epilepsy after some very scary seizures. She had one in December with her mom and then a month later she had one at home with me. After that second seizure, the poor girl has been through multiple hospital visits, ambulance rides, different types of seizures and medications. Her current concoction of medication has given us two weeks seizure free and we are keeping all of our fingers and toes crossed for healthy days ahead.

Kittens are definitely more fun in pairs, or as siblings. We adopted three (two sisters and a brother) many years ago, we adopted a pregnant cat that had five kittens and kept them all, and the last time we adopted it was a brother and sister. Oh, and there were the two little orange guys who we adopted before they went feral. Yes, we’ve had a lot of cats.
I’ve considered doing all the prompts more than once. Next time, maybe.
The video of ya’ll’s time in Vegas was a lot of fun. I watched it yesterday. Felt a little bad for Kainoa. I’m sure he would have liked to stay home playing video games… well, maybe this was better.

That poor kid gets drug along to a lot of volleyball tournaments. I feel bad for him too sometimes! He did love all of the music and the arcade in Vegas. It actually makes me nervous for his future frat boy self. I have a feeling he’ll be back there again to sow his wild oats.

How d0 you keep them down on the farm after they’ve seen Vegas, huh?

I just have to say, this video brings back some sportswriter memories, I feel your pain about being the last one in the building after a volleyball tournament. (I also understand your hatred of social media.) Denny’s is a solid dining option, as is the Rainforest Cafe, and if I ever make it to Vegas the hotel is on my list. Congratulations to your kids on all of their winnings, which were impressive, and go for the pair of kittens.

I belted out some Amy Grant in the car for a period of my life!

I love how you did the “weird thing” with all of the prompts.
What grabbed me was your response to #4 with the kittens. Mostly because we had to say an unexpected farewell to our resident cat, Dale, last week. He had been a rescue and, for a brief time, had a BFF named Chip. They were the “pair extraordinare”. Chip suffered diabetic issues and we lost him three years ago, leaving Dale to rule the proverbial roost. Last week, in a matter of seconds, Dale threw a blood clot and we had no choice but to not let him suffer. Hopefully his buddy Chip was waiting for him at Rainbow Bridge.
Well done, Kat!
