11. What is on your Spring Break “to do” list?
We are currently in the smack dab middle of Spring Break with the kids and I’ll be honest, I think I need a break from Spring Break. It started with a trip to Vegas for a volleyball tournament and we’re home for a minute before heading out to the annual cabin stay with my little sister.
I wish the prompt I could write on this week was the “talk about a time you got lucky” prompt, but I didn’t win any money in Vegas. I didn’t even try. Going to Vegas with children is like sitting at a movie with your Mom when a sexy scene unfolds. Showgirls walk up and down the strip in pasties and thongs while inviting people to pay to take pictures with them. The city is covered in sexy billboards and we watched plenty of trucks drive by with advertisements promising to deliver sexy ladies.
You might ask yourself why a young girls volleyball tournament might be hosted in Las Vegas and my husband and I join you in that thought. We don’t know. That being said, it was really a lot of fun. The hotels are amazing, there were arcades and roller coasters and shopping. Food was available at all hours and there was a Starbucks in the lobby. To top it off we got to watch a lot of volleyball and only lost Kainoa twice.
You would think as a mother of a 15, 13, and 11 year old, I would finally be at a place where I am no longer losing my children but that is not the case. Kainoa disappeared twice in the hotel we were staying at. Maybe I can answer the “talk about a time you got lucky” prompt after all. I didn’t become a millionaire BUT…I did come home with all of my children!
I have nothing left on my Spring Break list. I am notorious for feeling like I do not occupy my kids enough during their breaks and I always have high hopes of doing more activities with them. This Spring Break I have somehow managed to fill with nonstop activities and all I want is to get back to my routine. I’m just never satisfied, but I am definitely looking forward to some lovely cabin time with my sister’s family. Next year’s Spring Break will have its work cut out for it.

Las Vegas is a weird place. Glad you had a good time anyway.

My daughter played club volleyball, and we never, never, EVER played anywhere cool.

I see Kainoa has gotten to the “let’s play hide & seek” phase, where he just sort of disappears, then just sort of reappears. “Where were you?” “Noplace.” “What were you doing?” “Nothing.” He was bored and went out exploring. Get used to it. Having been an 11-year-old boy on at least one occasion, I can tell you it’s SOP…

I’m glad everybody had a good time and also came home. I had scheduled a layover in Las Vegas once, and I planned to play the slot machines in the airport just to play in Vegas, but I had to change the flight.

We had the same thought about the slot machines. I was like, “we can’t just come to Vegas and not gamble a single penny!”…but time got away from us and that is exactly what happened.
