6. Write about a mistake you made this week.
I make the mistake of staying up too late. I’m a night owl. My best ideas come to me at night and always have. Like that time in 7th grade when I stayed up late turning my dresser drawer into a mansion for my hamster.
Okay, so I didn’t have a lid. Who knew hamsters could climb straight up like that? It’s a lesson I learned the next day after school when I came home to find him missing, but the brilliance of a hamster mansion? That’s not an idea that will come to someone at 8am. That’s a 1am idea.
Other things that keep me up late?
1. Putting Off 1 Hour Projects
Except that it’s is actually a 3 hour project and I’m lying to myself about how fast I am at doing things.
2. Your Facebook Articles and Updates
3. Real Housewife Finales…so rich
4. My Own Workshops
The worst is when I choose prompts and when it comes time to write I’m just drawing a blank. Completely uninspired by the prompts that I CHOSE!
5. Research.
Cancer symptoms, online schooling options, personality tests…this stuff is not going to learn itself.
6. My Messy House.
Because naturally the only time I feel the need to clean is on my way up the stairs so that when I come back down in 5 hours the next morning I can create a fresh mess all over again.
Nothing has changed. And every morning I hate myself for it because sleep is so wonderful and I fight it like an angry toddler and I wake up like an angry toddler. I wonder why Night Owls are night owls. What makes us this way? I FEEL A GOOGLE SEARCH COMING ON…

Facebook is an enormous time suck, and I go out there maybe once a week to see if there’s anything I absolutely have to reply to. Fortunately, I’ve trained all my Facebook friends not to expect me to reply anytime soon. I’d give it up entirely, but there are a couple of things (like my blog page and the A to Z Challenge page) that I have to keep it for.
I’ve lost track of the number of 10-minute projects that have ended up taking ten hours. The night I had my stroke, I was working on one.
I know what the whole research thing is like: last night, I couldn’t get to sleep until I figured out what former White Sox player was traded to the Braves and released right away. (It was Carlos Quentin.) And of course I couldn’t stop there: I had to check all the other guys who were involved in the trade and where they are now. Baseball-Reference.com is dangerous…
Did you ever get that list of prompts I sent you?

I have never watched Real Housewives. EEEKS I know. I feel like I need to with all this drama in my life – it would probably make me feel better. LOL.

I loved this post so much! I find it very relatable, as I have always been a night owl myself. I agree with you about the ideas; they just don’t come around during normal hours.
I’ve never watched the Real Housewives, but I did get pulled into Gypsy Sisters, and let me tell you, I have never felt so high class and demure in all my life!
I’ll be submitting my post tomorrow; today was my son’s birthday and I had to hijack Writer’s Workshop day to post a quick shout-out to him!
