3. Write about something you’re looking forward to this month.
Summer is winding down and even though we are in the throws of a worldwide pandemic, I have still managed to find things to look forward to in my own little cocoon:
1. Girls Trip!
Every summer, my group of high school girlfriends (there are five of us) rent a house and spend a weekend catching up. It’s always a good time. There is just something about being with people who knew you before mortgages and children that is refreshing. I always look forward to our time together. All of our families are currently healthy and we are all pretty minimally exposed, so I feel cautiously ok about cohabitating with them for a couple of days.
2. Last Month of Summer
I have a love/hate relationship with this last month of summer because it really has been lovely here, however, I am rainy weather kind of gal so I do look forward to those clouds making their way back home to me.
3. New Family Member
I mentioned we will be adopting one of our foster kittens and I can’t wait to make him a full family member. I haven’t exactly broken the news to my husband. He never even looks at the kittens, so he’s very much so in the dark about my plans. I believe I can convince him that I am fostering this kitten for the rest of our lives.
4. Tailgate Party
Recently I’ve been popping over to my mom’s house to visit with Harper. I made the mistake of bringing little gifts to play with and now she calls me to see if I can swing by…with a gift. She’s doing really well with her seizures and has not had one in over three months! We love seeing her in full sassy little kid mode as opposed to how she was struggling last year at this time. Other than Harper, I have not properly visited with any of my other nieces and nephews or sisters and brothers since June. I’m looking forward to a tailgate party my little sister is planning in order to rectify that problem. It will be lovely to see all of my favorite faces again!
5. Weekend Junkyard Dates
Every weekend my husband and I grab Starbucks and bop around town to check out yard sales and collect junk (treasure). I really love our little day dates and by my calculations, we still have two weekends left in August for this.
What are you looking forward to?

So I guess Pat never reads your blog? (to know about the foster you plan to keep)

I hope Pat doesn’t give you grief about your little guy. Little Rainier is so cute…
I’m really hoping we can put Covid-19 behind us and get our lives back to normal soon. I don’t think you’re in that much danger of catching it. Enjoy your time with your friends.

I LOVE that you haven’t told your husband about Rainer!
This is so much like a husband asking “is that a new outfit?” and a wife replies “this old thing? I’ve had it in the closet for months!”
I’ll patiently wait for your Ranier-husband update and how you pull it off!
