2. Share a heartwarming story or video you recently enjoyed.
Do you ever entertain the idea of unplugging completely for like…ever? I think too much news, Facebook, politics, etc can have a major negative impact on my brain. Especially these days we are inundated with news coverage and opinions 24/7. The election has been intense on both side and add to that the daily Covid reports, speculation about vaccines and rising numbers…it’s too much.
I try to be more vigilant about unplugging or at the very least finding a way to balance some of what I think has a negative impact on my with more heartwarming materials. This week I found some of that balance on YouTube with the following videos:
1. Boy Gets First Puppy
He opens a gift thinking it must be for someone else because it’s filled with dog-related items and he doesn’t have a dog. And then his grandma walks in with a puppy! Watching him put all the pieces together is so sweet. Videos like this sometimes send me down a rabbit hole of watching people get surprised with puppies and kittens and I’m quite ok with that!
2. LeBron James Being Nice To People
I love watching famous people use their celebrity status to make other people feel good. The fact that LeBron can be in the middle of a basketball game and still have the thoughtfulness to scruff a kids hair is the sweetest thing ever:
3. Salt and Vinegar Chips for the First Time
This little girl is all of us when first eating salt and vinegar chips. That brief moment of “what did I just put in my mouth?” followed by “ohhh I can’t stop eating it…”
4. Little Girls Gets Help From Neighbor on Ring
This is heartwarming and also so sad at the same time because her little terrified voice is almost too much. She runs to her neighbor’s door for help after spotting a Bobcat and the neighbor manages to keep her calm until she can get to her:
5. Man Gets Mobbed by Raccoons
Apparently, this man has been making his raccoon videos for over a year and I’m just now catching on. He sits down with a tub of hot dogs and hand feeds about 30 raccoons that swarm his back deck in the evening. You don’t think you would ever really sit and watch a man feed raccoons for 20 minutes and then the next thing you know the video is over. And the comments provide a lovely second dose of entertainment in and of themselves.
6. Reunited After Two Years
Who doesn’t love a pet reunion?
7. Cade Eats Everything
If you haven’t yet seen this little boy Cade cook with his Grandma, I think you will get a kick out of watching him attach every ingredient:
Hopefully, my heartwarming selections from the week will be just what you need to balance the negative too! Have a great week!

Kat,
WOW, excellent videos to share! The two winners I think are of the little girl eating salt & vinegar chips and the little boy who sampled all the cookie ingredients. :D Thanks for challenging us this week and hosting the fun!

That little boy was cracking me up. I’ve never seen a kid grab for an entire stick of butter with such ferocious intent. lol!

Oh, what great stories! You are so right; we definitely could all use more feel-good these days. I think my favorites are the puppy, the dog, and the raccoons! But really, they’re all fantastic mood-lifters.

I love how that man was just going on and on about how hungry the raccoons were, meanwhile they are like the chunkiest raccoons I’ve ever seen. lol!

These were all great. The last one with Cade was hilarious, even more fun than watching you and Harper.
Raccoons are a riot, though I wouldn’t want to tangle with one (they’re pretty tough, too). We had a mother and her four kits come and eat the cat food at night. Our outside cat would sit and watch patiently, and we’d go out and give her more food later.
The ones that get me are the service members who come home after a deployment and the reception they get from their dogs.

Need to clean my face and hug my dogs. brb.
