Harper is 10 months seizure-free and has been absolutely thriving after being diagnosed with Doose Syndrome.
Doose is a form of epilepsy in children that is incredibly difficult to treat since their bodies do not respond to the medication the way we need them to.
For a time, the combination of nonstop seizures and heavy medication turned her vibrant spirit into a whisper of a girl.
She was so so sick and hospitalized more times than I care to count.
Feeling grateful for her mom and team of doctors for putting in the work to bring her back to us.
She’s still on a combo of meds, CBD, and a strict Keto diet for now, but she’s chatty and sassy and smart and all of the things we never want to lose again.
I hope she stays this healthy forever. Keep on thriving Bop!!

Kat,
I’m so glad Harper is more like her old self. It’s terrible when kids are sick. I hope this treatment plan continues to work well for this young girl. Thanks for sharing and for hosting the writing workshop, my friend!

Harper is an adorable little girl, and I’m so happy that she seems to have turned a corner. And I don’t miss the helmet.

That is so wonderful to hear. It breaks me when kids have to fight invisible illnesses that dare try to rob them of so much. I am hoping that this treatment plan is a continued success for this sweet smiling bean. xoxo
PS. Boxes man. Boxes are the best toy EVER.
