1. Tell us about something you are looking forward to.
The time has finally come! When Covid closed all the things here in Washington State, my girls had just started their club volleyball season. They didn’t get to finish what they started and they were on such promising teams with really great coaches. News that their high school volleyball season in the fall was going to be postponed came and so we sat out a second season. Since watching them play is something I really look forward to, it has been the second top thing I have really missed most during the shutdown (the first being my time with Harper and my family).
Well, things are looking up. High school volleyball tryouts were this week and my girls will be playing on the same team together. Club volleyball is in full swing and we are getting a double dose of my favorite sport. The games are live-streamed and the girls have to wear masks while playing, but they are playing! See…if you squint you can see them:
I understand that I may be the only person on the planet that cares about this. In the scheme of things our local sports programs are trivial BUT…it’s a step toward normalcy. Our Washington State teachers have begun the vaccination process. A hybrid school model where the kids attend school two days a week is potentially on the docket. I’ll be honest, it seems a little pointless when we’re so close to the end of the year, but I like that things are getting healthy enough for that to be an option.
I don’t know when covid will be out of my head. I understand that my family is still at risk until we are vaccinated and I don’t know if that is going to happen for us anytime soon. But I certainly look forward to these small steps toward normal!

4. Write a post about the dream pet you always wanted when you were growing up.
5. Write a blog post inspired by the word: earned.

It’s all about those small steps, Kat.
I think most of us are hesitant to take any giant leaps into life after this past year, especially when those few steps forward have managed to push everyone into reverse as this virus keeps twisting and turning.
Hopefully, a slow return to everything normal as we all keep a watchful eye over one shoulder. Like you, we aren’t jumping on the vaccine bandwagon just yet but, at some point, will definitely go for the J&J one. In the meantime, we’ll just continue to be as safe as possible and keep life around us at a comfortable distance.

That is so great! I actually wrote about the same thing – hockey. My son grieved losing out on hockey terribly. His hockey is still canceled though. I’m glad that your girls are back to playing. These kids are missing out on so much and they need this normalcy back. I totally get it. It’s more than just a sport. This is hopeful.
Crossing my fingers that you all get to attend games in the near future. It’s fantastic that they have a livestream for you all though!

Kat,
I’m glad to see things gradually moving toward the normal life. Hopefully before the year is over there won’t be any restrictions to hold us back. Best of luck to your girls! Sorry to cut this so short. I came by earlier and got busy, now I need to scoot out the door!

Things are getting back to normal: that’s something all of us are waiting for, and we couldn’t be happier that things are moving in that direction by you, because that means there’s light at the end of the tunnel for all of us. I know watching your girls play volleyball is a big part of your life, and I’m happy you’re getting to see that now! Enjoy!

I didn’t write a post about it but I am looking forward to finally moving. We have our keys and were supposed to move three months ago. Unfortunately my mother has been in and out od the hospital several times since the year started so the move has been postponed a few times. Mom is better so I’m hoping to be out this place within the month. My birthday is in May, so I want to have a housewarming then and since Spring represents fresh starts,a brand new home fits that.
