4. Write a blog post inspired by the word: hunt
We have been on a car hunt. It is the ultimate headache. I have somehow managed to hold off on purchasing a third car even though my two daughters are both licensed. We have shared my minivan for the past year and a hald. Maile has saved her money and now that she is on the verge of college, it’s become unavoidable. We have to purchase a car for her. So we’ve been searching and I just don’t trust anyone.
Is it too much to ask for a car that is aesthetically pleasing to my 18-year-old and also safe and also low mileage and also inexpensive? Apparently so, because I’ve been scoping Offerup and Facebook Marketplace and it doesn’t exist. If the car has low mileage AND is affordable then the title has been rebuilt and it’s been in some kind of car accident.
In my life I’ve owned three vehicles. The first was an ’89 Honda Civic that my mom and stepdad bought and I loved it. It was a little stick shift four door that felt like a little race car and lasted me from my Junior year in high school until the year I gave birth to Maile. I didn’t pay a dime for it and never even paid for insurance. My mom was probably thrilled when I sold it and took over all things car related from there.
My second car was a minivan. I filled it with my three kids and a handlful of daycare kids until it was on it’s last legs and then I replaced it with…another minivan. I told Pat to just trade in the first minivan for a newer one and that’s exactly what he did. We didn’t hem and haw. We didn’t take it to a mechanic or wonder if the dealer was honest. We just…bought it. But something hits different about finding a car for my child. It has to be perfect, but also not break the bank. She starts volleyball on August 1st so I have 10 days to get this figured out. And then the hunt starts all over with Laina. Help me Rhonda.

3. Talk about something you were allowed to do as a child that you will not allow your child to do.
4. Write a blog post inspired by the word: hunt
5. Your dream summer vacation.

The two most important things on your list are Maile likes it and it’s safe. You might have to compromise on low mileage and inexpensive. From what I gather, even used cars are expensive. these days.
I’m glad I never had to go through this. I’ll say a prayer…
