At my request, last year for Mother’s Day we drove two hours to the ocean and spent the day there with the kids. I had big plans to do the same this year. We could go for a boat ride, have lunch, play in the waves…freeze (it’s Washington people), and then head home. But at the last minute I looked at my husband and was all, “I think I just want to stay home tomorrow…” and he was all “DONE DEAL!”
It will be a quiet one this year. I’m content with my homemade gifts and this very special card from my boy who dictated to his teacher exactly what he wanted it to say. I think more of us need to be this specific with our well wishes:

That’s good! The card was simple and to the point, what a great keepsake to have one day!

My son is going to make a woman very happy someday…he definitely inherited the “romance gene” from his father.

My kids watched this with me, then later in the day, my daughter posted a poem on my Facebook to me and ended it with “I don’t hate you either!” Lol.
Toni says
LOL that is so funny. Definitely a card to hold onto for life :)
Lori says
Oh that’s funny! I’m surprised it wasn’t followed up with, “Your cooking doesn’t make me vomit.”

My son drew me a lovely picture of a “vigina”. ;) I’m so glad he doesn’t hate you!

Well, hope you had a wonderful Mother’s Day. Don’t know if my 12 yo could honestly say she didn’t hate me. Having to clamp down on her and her boy fever. Like today when I told her she wasn’t to ride the bus home (the den of bad boys) and as she got out of the car at school she yelled, “I want to be adopted my another family. There is one who wants me.”
Joy.
