My little sister Baby just had a baby. I’d go into details about how the labor was only an hour and a half long and how she didn’t have time for an epidural and how I raced to the hospital with my Mom and Lolo at 11pm just to meet our new precious little baby nephew….but Baby is super private so I can’t share too much.
I will say that after just a little over a week she brought him to the family Easter celebration this past Sunday and she looks phenomenal. He’s alright too, but she particularly looks great.

may i say that your sister DID NOT look like she had a baby?
lucky bitch :)
June Freaking Cleaver says
I missed out on talks like that – I’m the only girl in a family of four boys. And I’m certain that THEIR labor would have been worse than mine, ya know?
That One Mom says
Congrats to the new addition to your family. Both of my sisters looked and felt great after their babies, too…. Grrrr…
trash says
You know that underneath their apparent cheeriness both your sisters are nodding sagely going ‘Yeah. Kat so had the worst time EVER when her babies were little. Man, I’m so impressed she has recovered enough to be here today. We should give her loads of respect and everything.’
When did I become my Mom says
I know the feeling. My first one was a year and still not sleeping through the night and I hated dragging myself to stuff. I think I mighta missed Christmas lunch with the folks even. :-)
Jules says
I feel like skipping days and I don’t EVEN HAVE KIDS!!!
Hmmm….
LoveFeast Table says
First kid, I had them dressed, bathed and pristine when folks stopped by to say hi to the new addition! I had makeup on, played the happy hostess (even days after his birth)…I probably even made a few appetizers to serve. By number 5, I added extra locks to the door, posted no trespassing signs and was lucky if the shower and I met each other for a weekly brunch! All appearance of having it together had faded unlike the stretch marks! You just handled Maile like a pro…a seasoned mama!

If you can’t use your kids to get out of family gatherings then what good are they?

LOL
Jennifer @ The Toy Box Years says
It’s posts like this that make me wish I had a sister.
Ashley says
You never disappoint. I love it! Good read to start my day off just right :)
Jessica says
Oh! I so don’t look forward to the days of having to make someone else AND myself look decent before going somewhere. I can barely get myself under control, much less someone else.
I’m reconsidering this whole having kids thought…I’m a *little* bit selfish.
Kelly Deneen says
LOL. I don’t judge on the skipping things when baby is 6 months old. ;)
And your sis does look great!!
S Club Mama says
LOL how funny. I wish I would have skipped all holidays in tristan’s first year. And all up until now with Isaac. I was lucky to shower every few days with Tristan – Isaac was just HARD.

When I went into labor with my second son, the fist thing I did was bake muffins. My kids laugh at me about it, like, “Why would you bake muffins?” You know, to pass the time, and so there’d be snacks when I was done.
Then the little guy (little nothing, 10 lbs 2 oz!) was born and I kid you not I didn’t have energy to bake muffins again for five years!
Jennifer says
I had a c-section 10 days before Christmas. I have no idea how I made it to the annual Christmas Eve celebration. Oh yeah, my Mom was basically living with me and staying up with the baby all night and getting her dressed for me and doing all the hard stuff. But I still looked nothing like Baby.

That post is so dang cute!!!! I was right there with you, keep me in my pjs and I didn’t want to face the world in my post-baby state of misery!!!
Kristi {at} Live and Love...Out Loud says
You crack me up! Is it okay for me to hate your sister for looking so stinkin’ awesome so soon after having a baby?!? I’m kidding, but in all seriousness you and your sister are absolutely beautiful. Hope you’re having a great day. Heading on over to read your guest post at Angie’s big top.

I have to laugh because I am “that” sister.
Hilarious to see the other side.
Thank you!
stephanie says
love it!
when friends have their first baby, i try to be the good friend and prepare them for total misery in the beginning and i’m totally honest and say how exhausting it is and how painful breastfeeding is…
and then they usually tell me a few weeks later, “it really isn’t that bad. he’s actually a great sleeper. and i feel totally recovered. and he’s really happy and never cries…”
and then i decide we probably can’t be friends anymore.
Suzanne says
Hilarious! As always…seriously, will you just post on my blog for me…I would be ETERNALLY grateful!
Katherine says
I think I may hate your sister. Just as much as mine. Who was wearing her pre-pregnancy clothes two weeks after delivering.
3 Men and a Lady says
She doesn’t look like she even needed to lose weight! But good for her! An hour and a half, huh? Lucky.
Trudy says
Yeah, I’m pretty sure I won’t be having those conversations either…I was adopted and already 2 months old when my parents brought me home! I have no sisters either…I can so see me being the 6 months later person, LOL!
angie says
Baby looks fantabulous.
Baby is lucky.
Baby had a FAST delivery. Wowsers.
Congrats on the newest member to your family.
Jessica says
Holy smokes! That is 9 moths preggo? She does look amazing. Some women have all the luck… Congrats on the new baby!
Momlissa says
Wow, she looks awesome! I missed Easter when my twins were born. They were about 3 weeks old, I felt exhausted, pasty, bloated and hormonal – always a good mix for going out in public. I was at an Easter gathering the other day and a mom was there with a 1 month old, looking stellar already. Not fair, just so not fair! lol
Pooba says
She LOST 30 pounds since then?
Yeah, you definitely deserved to take off the first Easter!
Loved the dialogue!
Shell says
I’m definitely with YOU on how hard my first was!
Stef says
Did she HAVE 30lbs to lose?? She is thinner than I am and my baby is 14 months old…. gulp. Congrats!!
Lolli says
I want to burn all of the pictures of myself after K was born. My face broke out, my ankles swelled, and I never had time for make up. Now I just chuckle when my sisters have babies. It’s not an easy (or pretty) thing!
Francesca says
People with new babies just don’t understand how hard it is for the rest of us. Pfft.
Baby will learn soon enough. That six month mark is killer!
kisatrtle says
you always make me laugh.
Joy says
haha that is funny I think u get an automatic pass the first yr, well at least you should
debi9kids says
OH wow! She looks fabulous and thanks for the giggles :)
Erin says
Congrats to the new addition. Baby looks good, and you look excellent too, since no one else mentioned it! =) Sheesh my youngest is 19 months and I still look fat and frumpy!
Lindsay @ Just My Blog says
This is simply unfair. Why is she GLOWING!? Oh well, tell your sis she is beautiful and incredibly blessed.
Kathy says
I LOOOOOVE how you protected her privacy! LOL Congrats on the new baby!
Lizgizzy says
My son is 4.5 years old and I still don’t glow- what the heck, how is your sister doing it?

LOL My oldest was 6 months old for her first Easter too. She had an ear infection and a fever. Fun.
JulieK says
Oh my gosh I am right there with you – having a baby was SO hard on me for like … okay, until now – 10 months later! :) I broke out, had shortness of breath doing ANYTHING for like 4 months, had a horrific time BFing and generally went about feeling like the world’s worst mom forever. Add to that my mom wasn’t even available to me the month after the baby was born b/c we had a family emergency with my grandma… it was all crazy. I hated it. I felt like I didn’t have that “special time” every other mom seems to have… and ALL my friends had either C sections or super short labor and were perky and bouncy within like 4 weeks. Grrrr. I am sort of dreading having another one… but I really want one so… here we go! :) I am just glad to read from this post that I am not the only one!!
