3. A memorable Halloween costume.
I shared my history of Halloween costumes here about three years ago. After growing up in gypsy costumes adorned by a skirt, mom’s fancy scarves, makeup, jewelry and of couse my winter jacket I took a long break from costumes from about 9th grade all the way up until I started having kids. One of the fun things about kids is that you get to relive some of those magical moments through them and that when I began dressing up for Halloween again. The older they get the less elaborate I am. Gone are my days of impressing my kids in full Ana gear.
I’m getting old and lazy. I’m fairly certain I was a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle two years in a row.
This year I was a fox. My sisters and I walked for 2 hours in the rain while our kids took turns dropping their buckets of candy in driveways and helping each other clean them back up. My body is in pain. Next year I’ll enjoy Halloween in my most memorable costume yet. It will consist of a robe, my pillow and Netflix. A Halloween Scrooge sounded really nice at about mile 2.5 this evening. ;)
What was your last Halloween costume?
John Holton says
You were a very cute fox. I’m sure that’ll make your day.
Did Kainoa refuse to leave the house in costume this year? I remember that was an issue last year.
I remember trick-or-treating in my winter coat, because it was usually colder than a well-digger’s backside in Chicago. I also remember it was about 80 degrees one Hallowe’en and my brothers and I roamed the neighborhood in t-shirts. As I recall, the next day it snowed. Gotta love Chicago weather….
