Tony
I’ll never forget his eyes.
Blue and clear and lacking fear
A cocky son of a gun.
Blue and clear and lacking fear
A cocky son of a gun.
I’ll never forget his laugh.
Teasing, unceasing and utterly pleasing
His energy matched by none.
I’ll never forget his smile.
Clever and smart revealed his heart
Those jokes of his were witty.
I’ll never forget our talks.
Sincere and dear, wish he was here.
The first boy to tell me I’m pretty.
I’ll never forget the call.
My best friend cried said he had died
My heart ached to have him back.
I’ll never forget his death.
A cliff so high, his brave swan dive
Shallow waters. He hit the sand.
I’ll never forget his life
near or far, to me a star
Someday I hope to be one.
I’ll never forget his eyes
Blue and clear and lacking fear
That cocky son of a gun.

Michele Morrow says
Did you write this? Maybe we know each other. Tony was on my mind today and an internet search in Google Images actually produced his photograph, which you have above. I had forgotten about this poem since the funeral.
Anyway…. thank you for preserving his memory online.
