Happy New Year!
…I think…
You know when you’re playing Sonic the Hedgehog and you make it to the Spring Yard Zone and you’re all “Weeee this is fun!” and you bounce around the screen happily figuring the puzzle out?
And then you finally pass the level and move on to the next Zone and find yourself in the Labyrinth? And you can’t figure the freaking level out because you’re WAY too stressed about finding air bubbles before time runs out and you drown to death? And time is constantly reminding you it’s about to run out because the music gets frantic and your heart starts beating and you can’t hit the buttons fast enough?
That’s EXACTLY how I feel about moving into 2012. The 2011 “Spring Zone” has been more or less trauma free, so why not just stay awhile longer? What if 2012 brings the Labyrinth!?!
I hate the Labyrinth.
In my first post of 2011 I said, “I feel like 2011 is going to be a year of less pressure and more fun and less Twinkies and more Captain Crunch Berries and less being paranoid about someone finding my children online and more actually selling my children online and well…just better.”
And it WAS better. Which is exactly why I’d rather just hold off on 2012 if that’s at all possible.
But it’s not.
So to 2012 I say…please don’t hurt me. Or anyone within my 7 degrees of separation. I don’t think that’s asking too much.
Here’s to many nights of blogging and great reality TV watching and less Captain Crunch Berries because you can only take so much of those and more coffee and less worrying and more just living in the moment and getting things done and maybe a walk now and again…and to no more references to Sonic the Hedgehog ever.
Happy New Year!
Bring it ON…I think…
Here’s how I feel about Resolutions:

I completely agree with you about resolutions. Happy New Year! xo

Goals give me focus and a plan to work towards that gives me a sense of accomplishment when I make it. I have to plan or I would just end up lying around doing nothing, wasting my days away.

lol, I was nodding my head along to the sonic levels comparison. Nicely done.

I’m feeling really excited and positive about this year, I’m definitely motivated to MAKE THINGS HAPPEN! Hope it’s a brght and sparkly one for you and yours, Mama Kat!

I say yo hit Costco and stock up on Crunch Berries. That way you are guaranteed to have a kick-ass 2012.
Robin | Farewell, Stranger says
I think you’re just being eased in. 2011 was better and 2012 is going to be kick-ass amazing. Because if you’d gone straight to kick-ass amazing you probably would have gone into shock and no amount of Crunch Berries can fix that.
Amber says
I LOVE that you used sonic in this to explain how you are feeling. In my book that is just pure awesome.
Recovering Supermom says
Hilarious, as usual! I hope your 2012 is even better to you than 2011 was.

Happy new year! Wishing you lots and lots of happy in 2012.

I feel the same way about 2012. But then again, I’m one of those always-waiting-for-the-other-shoe-to-drop kinda people. Here’s hoping we both avoid the Labyrinth!

Girl, I hear you. There have already been some events in my life that have made me fear 2012 and just stick my head in the sand pretending nothing happened.
Life is constantly changing, I guess if it didn’t we’ed get bored.
Daddy Scratches says
I’m so with you. Last year was delightfully void of drama, especially contrasted against the Epic Fail that was 2010.
Happy New Year, Kat. May the next air bubble always be in plain sight.

Happy New Year! Here is to a trip to Disneyland, and drinks….with me! =)

Loving it! I cannot count how many years I have wanted to just stay in a little while longer, in hopes of the unknown not coming to pass. Thanks for this, it was an eye opener that I am not alone, nor am I crazy (well at least by myself).

I agree with you about resolutions; however, if I don’t say what I’m going to do or write down what I want to do, I’ll never do it. Sometimes I feel like if I put my goal out there for the world to know, I have to follow through with it otherwise looks stupid for not. Then again, doing this has never proved successful so I’m gonna jump on your wagon and just do it. No talking about it. Cheers!
Tonya says
Love your take on new year’s resolutions. Just do it is a great slogan and once again, it applies to January 1st!
Wishing you all the best in 2012 and all the Crunch Berries you can stand.

Nothing good can come from food that leaves milk unwhite. Nothing.
I despise resolutions. I resolve to set no resolutions, let alone talk about them, tell people about all the shit I’m so not gonna do. That way, when I tell MYSELF “I’m not gonna drink except on special occasions,” when I pass by the fridge and absentmindedly make drink #3 on January 2nd, no one’s the wiser about my failing self but me. And I like me. She doesn’t judge. And she’s liberal with the tequila.

I agree sort of about resolutions. I think they’re silly in the sense there’s no reason why changing the year in a calendar should mean that you suddenly start being the person you want to be. However, if that motivates you than good, better than nothing. I have lofty resolutions that I have already broken and it’s only day 3. Things like don’t spend money on eating out and go on diet. Yesterday, we had McDonalds for dinner. Oh well!
