4. Share a Thanksgiving recipe you will be cooking up this month.
I’ve been invited to do some really interesting things thanks to this blog and the online world I’ve immersed myself in. I’ve been paid to host a Nerf battle field, I’ve filled my home with bloggers I’ve never met and encouraged their kids to pack lunches in my kitchen, I put together an entire fake Thanksgiving dinner with my sister to highlight the cleaning products one might use after such an occasion, I met WENDY…I mean really. I don’t know how this is my life, but every single time something comes up I call my Mom and I’m like, “Hey Mom, soooo…I’ve got myself into a pickle. I need to learn to knit” or something like that.
Tomorrow I leave for Colorado so that I can make Pumpkin Bars as part of an Influencer Thanksgiving with WhiteWave Foods. WhiteWave is the parent company of International Delight and Horizon Organic and Silk, etc. and they are based in Colorado. When I got the invite I was like “Sure I’d love to come!” but I didn’t exactly read the part where I would be preparing a dish. And I didn’t realize the other influencers are actual real life food bloggers. Do they know they invited a plain mom with plain recipes? And by “plain” recipes I mean she’s usually in charge of bringing the wine to Thanksgiving dinner?
This time I emailed my mom and sisters, “Hey, soooo…I’ve got myself into a pickle. I need to learn to make a dish. A Thanksgiving dish. And I need to use WhiteWave products.”
And they were all, “raspberry sherbet salad? stuffed mushrooms? deviled eggs?”
And I was all, “How about a dessert?”
And they were all, “pumpkin pie? cheesecake? cherry bars?”
And I was all, “I won’t have enough time for pumpkin pie or cheesecake. Cherry bars are delish, but not really Thanksgiving-ish…”
And they were all, “Pumpkin bars?”
And so my world famous pumpkin bars with creamy frosting were born. I made two batches. Nobody died. And now I need to go make them like a professional for a bunch of professionals and somehow manage to not pass out from the anxiety of it all.
WISH ME LUCK!
