6. Write about a time you fell down.
My siblings and I are not exactly known for our grace. We grew up with long gangly limbs and it took us a lifetime to grow into them in any sort of coordinated manner. Falling down was just something we did for no reason. I remember wondering why my Mom started laughing one night when I prayed for a whole day of no falling down. I don’t know what was so funny about my prayerful request, falling down hurts!
I didn’t realize that the whole world wasn’t falling down until our family grew and my in-laws started squawking about how all of the kids fall down all the time for no good reason. I started paying attention to my own kids and kind of realized that even to this day Kainoa trips on nothing.
I thought as an adult those days of falling were behind me (or beneath me), but maybe I got a little too confident. While at a crowded bar with my friend Marci, I cat walked out onto the dance floor in my heels and one thing led to another…I ended up on my back. We discussed “the fall” in a video on our Marci and Kat YouTube Channel recently. Take a look:
(video here)
Basically, my drink went flying while my feet flew out from under me. I landed on my back and couldn’t get up because my legs cramped up. Like a good friend, Marci reached down desperate to help save me from humiliation, but then was disappointed as she looked around and noticed nobody was even paying attention to my circus act.
The moral of the story is…if you are going to be a person who falls, you should surround yourself with people who are able to pull you back up. Otherwise you might just get stuck down there with your cramped legs.
When is the last time you remember falling down?

Your fall reminded me of mine. I guess embarrassing falls are more common than we think, huh?
Gigi says
Well,, of course, no one noticed. Now when my feet went out from under me at the bowling alley and the ball went flying several lanes over the whole damn building noticed.
Abby says
If someone falls in a bar, does anyone see it? Well, there’s the bouncer…
Mama Kat says
My thoughts precisely. It never happened.
