6. Who was the last person you saw blow out candles. What piece of advice can you offer them now that they are blank years old?
My little nieces made a birthday cake together under my watchful eye. We were celebrating the oldest’s birthday and she has already taken the reigns at 5 years old. With a couple of toddlers hassling her all day, Lila wastes no time teaching them everything she knows:
My piece of advice to Lila is the same advice I would give any child that is never really listened to and sort of impossible to follow because I think humans are sort of programmed to look forward to the next thing. When you’re a kid, you can’t wait to grow up and call the shots. When you’re an adult, you can’t believe you wasted a single minute not LOVING being a kid.
Lila is already a caretaker. She bustles around the babies making sure they’re being fair, taking turns, and following the rules. She inserts them into her games and gives them roles to play that they barely understand.
I love that she’s got that little responsible side. She will adult well someday! But I hope she never gets too old to bake a cake with a crown on her head and shout, “Lets get messy!”:

Right? They are too adorable.
John Holton says
A. They’re adorable!
B. Did Lila manage to get all the eggshells out?
Mama Kat says
I mean, they didn’t complain when they ate the cake! If there were shells, perhaps they just added to the flavor. ;)

From now on when I bake I am going to yell “Let’s get messy!” And then when decorating it I will say, “Put it on the cake” on repeat.
That was utterly adorable!
Mama Kat says
PUT IT ON DA CAKE! I was dying.
Abby says
OMG, that was so precious! And that Lila – adult well “someday”? She’s already adulting better than a lot of adults I know!
Mama Kat says
So true. She could run this entire household if she wanted to.
Astrid says
Aw, that’s definitely great advice! I am going to take that away from this post too.
