6. It’s been three months since Covid began shutting everything down. How are you doing?
My kids first day of online instruction due to Covid was March 16th and their official last day of school will be this Friday June 19th. Three months of pandemic living and I definitely feel the temptation to just go back to regular living. I find myself forgetting to put my mask on and just today I shook someone’s hand without thinking. We even took the kids on a weekend staycation and rented an Airbnb. I feel like as tempting as it is to live “normal”, I need to check myself and reign it back in. It’s important to stay careful and not let my guard up for at least a few more weeks. Other states are loosening up a lot more and I hate to say it, but I’d rather just wait and see how they fare before I join.
Our state has opened up to Phase 1.5 and I don’t really know what that means except that my hairstylist called to finally reschedule my appointment. I will have to wait in my car until she’s ready. We will both wear masks and she will need 15 minutes before my appointment to properly clean after her previous client…BUT…I will get a haircut!
With Summer starting soon for my kids, I imagine we’ll continue sticking mainly to our home. They will have limited access to friends, I bought a volleyball net so they can at least get some form of practice in, and we did reserve a camping spot for our annual family camping trip. The only other thing on my list is to nab another batch of foster kittens.
Take a look at some of last years glow ups. These kittens were all fostered by me and adopted by friends who have shared their grown up pictures with me:
I’m definitely ready to spend some quiet days at home with another batch of those. MASK FREE.

I’m happy that you’re looking forward to getting a haircut!
We’re in Phase 2 in New York….limited salon services which cover all things hair but…no waxing, no beard/moustache trims (for men, of course). We have signs everywhere advising that masks MUST be worn, safe distancing, wait in your car until you’re called-in….and, clients have to fill-out a “Client Health Questionnaire” that we must keep on file for Contact Tracing. Some clients choose to breeze-in and ignore the guidelines which makes things difficult.
I’m totally with you on the “loosening-up” deal. People have HAD it at this point; they are anxious/angry… but we really can’t get careless with the safety measures.
Love seeing the grown-up photos of the fur babies you’ve fostered….we all need more happy endings!
Stay safe!

I’m surprised New York got to move to phase 2 and we’re here in Washington not even there yet. It sounds like they’re pretty similar phases though. I am really hoping things can be back to normal by Fall for school to begin.

Those kittens are adorable! Whatever you did must have got them off on the right foot. You definitely need a few more. My favorites are the two pairs: the gray tabbies grew up to be gorgeous cats, and the orange guys remind me of our orange guys, Homer and Jethro.
At this point, I’d just as soon take my chances against Covid-19. I’m fed up with this BS. I honestly believe that the lockdown made the violence post-George Floyd that much worse. I want things to open up again and life to go bck to normal as we knew it, not some “new” normal defined by face masks, hand sanitizer, and social distancing. I don’t think we needed to go to the extent that we did in combatting it in the first place, and frankly, if I ever see Anthony Fauci, I’m going to give him a knee in the groin. (By the way, that was the gist of what I had written in response to that prompt before I thought better of publishing it…)

I love the kitten pairs too! They get to stay downstairs with me and it’s not quite as overwhelming as an entire litter. Easier to get to know their little personalities. And Pat feels exactly the same as you. He is so over this and was never really on board with the closing up of everything. It’s a scary reminder of how easy it is for the government to take away our freedoms. I’m on the fence because I do buy in to the scary part of Covid and want to follow the rules, but at the same time I’m really over it too. Ugh! Your comment about meeting Fauci made me laugh!

Since Covid, I was able to take a paid 30 day leave from work, which did wonders for me mental and physical health. I’ve since had to go back, and we’re required to wear masks while there. I thought it was going to kill me, but after about a week, I got used to it. Since then, I’ve also discovered that I’m breathing a LOT better since wearing one. I think even the thin dispposable ones we wear filter at least some dust and pollutants, which has been great for my asthma. They sure are hot, though, so I see why people don’t like them, and forget them in a hurry.
I can’t wait for you to get another batch of foster kittens. Kittens and puppies make everything better – though I think puppies are probably a lot more work!

P.S.. I sent you a friend request on FB – don’t know if you’re up for adding people, but if you are, one of them is me!
