1. Write a blog post inspired by the word: accident.
Maile was in an accident, but she’s totally fine.
I was on the road the other day when Pat called and was like, “Has Maile called you??”
Immediately I panicked, “No why? What’s wrong? Why would you ask me that?”
And he was all, “Well since she hasn’t told you yet, I guess I will…”
Can I just say that if you are sharing news with me, I prefer you lead with the news. The first sentence out of your mouth should be, “The dog ate chocolate and has diarrhea, but I called the vet and they said he will be fine.” Just get it all out so that I have no time at all to panic.
“Maile was rear-ended on the freeway when the car in front of her slammed on their brakes. She stopped in time, but the car behind her hit and forced her into the car in front of her.”
Of course, I was instantly relieved she was not hurt. I called her myself and asked all the questions. But I feel really bad she had to go through that. She saved up all of her money to buy that car and she has only had it for four months. She has loved her little ticket to freedom and takes really good care of it. I just hate to see it ruined when she actually did everything right.
We had it looked at by a mechanic and unfortunately the cost of fixing it was more than the worth of the car and it was deemed a total loss. All of the damage was cosmetic. The trunk is smashed and can’t close, the passenger door is stuck, and the hood and headlights are a mess, but it’s still functional and works fine. Seems like such a waste. It was removed from our house this week and we are back on the car hunt. Thankfully, the guy that hit her had insurance that will cover the cost of her replacement vehicle. We just have to find one and we know what a headache that was last time.
On second thought, maybe Maile could keep the money and just invest in a bike with a really great helmet! Then I wouldn’t have to worry about her on the road with people who could hurt her or ruin her car. Win-win!

Sounds like my first accident! I had only been driving a little while and someone rear-ended me on I4 in Orlando. It wasn’t even trafficky but he was a bad driver.

Or, she could get a motorcycle…
Seriously, I’m happy she’s all right. The car can be replaced; she can’t.
