1. Look back at the resolution you made last year at this time, how did you do?
Last year there was still a whole lot of covid talk when I shared my New Years Resolution. I wanted things back to normal and for the most part they really are now. Kids are in school full time without masks and distancing. Sports are full steam ahead, the kids are working.
I wanted our family to eat more home-cooked meals this year and I think I accomplished that…sort of. I’m the family cook so when my schedule gets busy or I get lazy, I don’t cook. We still eat out a lot but I’m fine with it. At the time, I had just read Fiber Fueled and was learning about gut health. I did a really good job of incorporating more healthy smoothies and salads into my diet all year long and up until a couple of months ago I had defeated my sugar addiction. It’s back now so I guess in 2023 I’ll need to add it into my resolutions of things to stop again….right after I finish the rest of the Halloween candy that is still hanging around the house.
I resolved to take more photos, but I think I should have specified that I’d like more photos of my children and not of random objects I find at garage sales. Now that my kids are old I just don’t think to take pictures…it doesn’t help that they’re always rolling their eyes and dodging the camera. But someday I’ll want to remind them of what they were like as teens so I need to do better!
I was really uncomfortable with the thought of Maile leaving home for college, but she ended up selecting to go to a community college about 20 minutes away from home. She has stayed home and commuted to school for class and volleyball and I could not be happier with the situation. Laina will be joining her next year at the same college and she will play for the same team so I am happy as a clam and would like to freeze time with them together.
I set a book reading goal of 30 for 2022 and so far I am 2 books behind schedule. We’ll see if I can pull it off by January 1st. Overall, I think I did pretty good with my resolutions, but when I set them I sort of expected to feel amazing about accomplishing them. I don’t feel any different. I don’t know why I bother with them other than that they’re kind of fun to look back and read about what was concerning me.
I think I can say that money, food, and my health are consistently concerning to me. So for 2023 I will aim to improve those things again. I want to be richer, less hungry and healthier. And I want every single one of my friends and family members and YOU to thrive and stay alive. DEAL!? Deal.

Deal!
While I think making resolutions is a good practice, I usually find myself wondering what mine were by about mid-February.
Is that an owl with a prey-leprechaun?
Merry Christmas and happy new year to you and the family!

I’m happy that the girls will stay close to home, Kat. That allows for so much precious time to be shared!
Love that Owl, by the way.
Many wishes for a very Merry Christmas to you and your beautiful family!
