3. What are snow days really like vs. how you imagine they will be?
Winter is coming and with winter comes snow, if we’re lucky. Every year when that first snowflake touches ground and actually sticks…I know we’re in for a good time. That first snowflake symbolizes quiet days spent watching Christmas movies with my children as the world around us pauses for Mother Nature. And then every year I’m a little disappointed with how it actually turns out. My mother warned me about this. She said when I was little she would be thrilled with the first sign of snow. She also had dreams of preparing hot chocolate while happy children spent hours building snowmen in the yard. She would set out our boots and snow gear but it would be too small or too wet or lost completely. We would cry for help with difficult snow boots and gloves. We would track snow in and out of the house all day long as it drip-dried and trailed a swampy mess behind us. It was never the fairytale and I also eventually learned the difference between the snow day fantasy vs. reality…though I’m not sure I’ll ever fully accept it. I still lie to myself every year about its magic.

The GIFs are hilarious, especially the one with hot chocolate. And the one with the cat bursting through the snow is a classic…
