Laina complained about heart palpitations while playing volleyball and when she couldn’t catch a breath one night we popped over to the ER.
They ran some tests and were like “we’re not seeing anything, could be stress induced…but she should see our cardiologist Dr. Smith as soon as possible just to be safe.”
I called Dr. Smith’s cardiologist office and they were like “sorry, we don’t have a referral and we can’t see her until we have one.”
So I called the number on our release forms and was like “can you please send the referral to Dr. Smith so we can make that cardiology appointment you recommended “as soon as possible”?”
They were like, “Oh you need to talk to the main hospital for that, I’ll transfer you.”
I re explained my request to the Main Hospital and they pulled up her info and said, “oh yes, I see how we recommended that Laina should see Dr. Smith as soon as possible but actually we can’t give that referral, you need to go to her primary doctor and tell them what we said and tell them about our tests and how she visited us and tell them to send a referral to see Dr. Smith.”
So now I need to make an additional appointment with a primary care doctor who can then hopefully make a real referral so that I can finally schedule an appointment that will more than likely not even be available for at least 2 months from now in an effort to get Laina seen “as soon as possible” FINALLY.
